The combined depth and breadth of the team’s experience is

software in over 50 hospitals and the development of
workload standards in over 200 healthcare facilities across
North America.
Sami Aly, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Sami Aly is responsible for the strategic
vision, direction, and day-to-day leadership of the company.
Sami is a technology innovator spending over 23 years in
various software and hardware product development roles. He
led the development of several complex products that were
successfully deployed to market place in high volume. As the
co-founder, CTO and VP of Engineering for Sedona Networks he
was instrumental in setting up the corporate strategy and
was responsible for a budget of $24 million annually, with
focus on technology development and product releases.
Sami has experience in all aspects of software development
including product architecture and technology selection,
development of functional specifications, design and user
interface, software testing, and training and deployment. He
has extensive project planning and management experience,
from team building to team coaching and task assignment,
directing tactfully through the effective use of rigorous
monitoring and status reports. He has worked with teams
ranging in size from 5-100 members.
Jean White, B.N.Sc.,
M.H.A.
VP, Development & Implementation
Jean White oversees the development and design
of products (both workload methodology and automated
decision support) to ensure they are structured to meet both
the current and evolving requirements of managers and
clinicians from all disciplines. She is also responsible for
ensuring that delivery of exceptional services to all
Emerald’s clients during the implementation phase.
Jean’s clinical and management experience have been applied
to the designing of practical solutions to management issues
in healthcare. She has worked extensively with Canadian
healthcare organizations in the development of workload
measurement approaches and the implementation of the
software. In the past 14 years, she has directed the
development of workload measurement standards in hundreds of
facilities and led the implementation of workload software
in over 50 of these organizations. She is the author of
Dynaworks®,
a dynamic workload methodology designed to evolve with
changing clinical practice, both in nursing and allied
health.
In addition to workload measurement, Jean has worked
extensively with clinicians and managers in the solving many
of the issues that sometime inhibit the development of
quality management information – database design and setup,
data flow and data integration within and across
applications, software functionality, and software user
support and training.
Jean's responsibility on the Emerald team is to
provide leadership for:

Frank Demizio, RRCP,
M.H.A., C.H.E.
Executive Chairman of the Board
Frank Demizio is responsible for the
development of strategic alliances and partnerships, which
bring value and benefits to Emerald’s clients.
On the foundation of a strong clinical base, Frank has over
25 years of health care experience which has included 16
years of progressive management experience in hospitals,
with responsibility for the operations of numerous allied
health departments including Laboratory & Risk Management,
Cardiopulmonary, Diagnostic Imaging & Laboratory Services,
Cardiopulmonary & Diagnostic Services, Rehab Services, and
EEG Services. He is particularly effective in using workload
measurement as a tool to assess and resolve complex
operational and organizational problems to increase
productivity, reduce expenditures, and increase revenue.
Frank has demonstrated effective leadership in operation
management through the development and effective control of
departments with annual operating and capital budgets in
excess of $12 million and the successful achievement of
financial targets from revenue producing procedure. He has
been the in-house leader for the conduct of an accreditation
survey in a large community hospital and has been a surveyor
for the Canadian Council on Health Care Accreditation since
1999.
